Sheffield Tigers have a very active Junior/Mini section with teams from Under 7’s to Under 17’s.
We train and play on Sunday mornings at the Club, usually starting at 10:30 am. For away matches it is usual to meet at the Club between 09:00-09:30 am depending on venue.
We have both boys and girls participating in mixed teams from U7 to U11 but only boys are allowed from U12 onwards. Tag rugby is played at U7 & U8s with limited contact starting at U9s. From U13 onwards, full pitch 15-a-side rugby is played with special emphasis placed on the safety of contested scrums and lineouts. The RFU requires that the safety and well’being of players is paramount and has issued a list of safety features especially for Mini/Junior rugby. Amongst these are that gum shields are compulsory at all ages, qualified first aiders must be present and a minimum number of coaches must be qualified.

06/06/10 Tigers Juniors U12’s End of Season Awards On Saturday May 22nd 2010, Tigers U12's brought down the curtain on a fantastic season with a celebratory ten pin bowling evening and dinner. The evening which was organized by Junior Manager of the Year, Sara Lee, was a roaring (Tiger Roar!) success and was attended by over 40 players and supporters. The awards themselves were shared across a total of 5 players with the Player of the year award shared between Tom Lloyd and Cameron MacKenzie which showed how hotly contested and finely balanced was the final decision. Below are some of the pics from the evening together with the names of the winners. In addition to the awards, the Captain and Vice-Captain were named for next season in Tom Mullaney & John Hesketh respectively. Roll on next season when we go north of the border on tour and also participate in the world famous Caldy Festival for the first time.
