John Goodman
With great sadness Sheffield Tigers have heard of the untimely passing of John Goodman on 28th July. John was an outstanding (and hard) open side player who was 1st team captain 1996-98. He also played in the Tigers winning team at Twickenham in the Tetley's Bitter Vase Final on the 15th of April 2000. Tigers beat fancied Bank of England by 20 - 11.
John got a mention in the Yorkshire Post's match report: "As the game entered injury time, a superb turnover tackle by John Goodman on wing Hugh Serjeant allowed Matt Root to break clear and score to seal victory". He also played when Tigers won the Yorkshire Shield for the first time when they beat Scarborough 20 -3 in May 2001.
Our deepest condolences go out to wife Maxine and family.
