After a tough loss last week the boys were eager to get back on the pitch and put in a performance they could be proud of.
The rain had finally stopped and Wath felt like Spain!
The pitch was dry and the day was set for some exciting rugby.
Tigers got out of the blocks early and were awarded multiple penalties in the Wath 22. As easy as it was to kick the points, the boys wanted a try and with a quality kick Walker found themselves 7 metres out from the try line. Bellamy took the ball at the front of the lineout and formed the maul. Wath hit it well initially but the boys were patient and started to build momentum driving it over for Oliver Deaves to score. Conversion missed. 5-0 Tigers.
From a great turnover, tigers tried to move the ball but Wath's line speed caused a knock on. 22 metres out Wath from the scrum ran a DSP and hit their powerful centre on a hard line to blast through and score. Wath Converted.
5-7 to Wath.
The game was on a knife edge but Tigers remained calm and when awarded a penalty, Walker put us right in the corner again. The boys set up another maul but Wath fronted up and stopped it! Deaves broke off and made yards. Bellamy then pick and goed at speed and smashed over! Walker Converted. 12-7.
Silly penalties from Tigers saw Wath in the latter minutes get piggy backed up the pitch. Tigers were under immense pressure, the scramble defence was incredible and they managed to repel Wath with every last bit of energy they had. Dillan Evans, after 60 minutes, out of position at 9 stepped up and made a crucial game winning turnover!
FT Tigers 12-7 Wath
Man of the Match was Gustave Joubert for an outstanding shift at tight head.
Well done to both sides for a cracking game of Rugby!
